Each year, RidgeGate teams up with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District to provide free, guided nature hikes throughout the spring, summer and fall. These hikes are led by professional naturalists from SSPRD, and offer insight and education into the natural ecosystems within the open space at RidgeGate, while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise. Hikes are free to the public, but registration is required. Please register below!
Finding the Awe in Nature (Drawing and Sketching) with Beth Hanson
For all, from “could be” to “already am” artists. Join an award winning local artist and naturalist for a morning of “plein air” sketching. We provide the pencils, paper, and clipboards, so all you need to bring is your curiosity and observation skills. Marvel at details and previously unnoticed features in the beautiful surroundings and capture the moment by putting pencil to paper. Non-drawing observers who just want to hike are also welcome!
Bring along your friends and family to this 2-mile summer hike. Kids are welcome, ages 5+ recommended.
