Each year, RidgeGate teams up with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District to provide free, guided nature hikes throughout the spring, summer and fall. These hikes are led by professional naturalists from SSPRD, and offer insight and education into the natural ecosystems within the open space at RidgeGate, while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise. A Geocaching Treasure Hunt
Guides: Cindy and Peggy from South Suburban Parks and Recreation
South Suburban Parks and Recreation guides will lead you into the global high-tech treasure hunting craze of Geocaching. You’ll learn how to point GPS units or apps on your phone to locate treasures near the Willow Creek Trail in the RidgeGate bluffs. A typical cache is a small waterproof container fitted with trinkets, a logbook, pen or pencil. The geocacher enters the date they found it and signs with their established code name. The cache must then be placed back exactly where it was found. There are tens of thousands of caches all over the world! Register below to join the hunt and find prizes and rewards, including special giveaways from RidgeGate. Bring along your friends and family to this 2-mile summer hike. Kids are welcome, ages 5+ recommended.
