Each year, RidgeGate teams up with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District to provide free, guided nature hikes throughout RidgeGate’s expansive bluffs trail system.
These hikes are led by professional naturalists from the district, and offer insight and education into the natural ecosystems within the open space at RidgeGate, while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise. Hikes are free to the public.
Reptiles in the Region
Max the box turtle and Nyx the baby bull snake will join you for a visit before you traverse part of the Bluffs trail. We most likely won’t encounter other reptilian guests, but will learn of several. Will Snappy, the snapping turtle, make an appearance? Only if she’s on her best behavior!
Whether you come to learn or just enjoy the trail, company and exercise – all are welcome! We’ll walk the Bluffs Regional Trail to the East-West Trail, so expect a moderate incline with little to no shade and a gravel path that doesn’t accommodate strollers well.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES. REGISTER HERE.
