Each year, RidgeGate teams up with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District to provide free, guided nature hikes throughout the spring, summer and fall. These hikes are led by professional naturalists from SSPRD, and offer insight and education into the natural ecosystems within the open space at RidgeGate, while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise. Hikes are free to the public, but registration is required. Please register below!
Good Morning, Early Bird! Sunrise Bird-Watching
Hike Guides: Cindy and Peggy from South Suburban Parks and Recreation
This hike is for the birds! Grab your binoculars and join us for an early morning stroll before the heat of the day kicks in. Watch the sunrise from the trail! Learn which characteristics help birders identify species. A professional naturalist guide from South Suburban’s Carson Nature Center will help you discover who is singing and nesting on our mesa right now, from meadowlarks and spotted towhees, to the elusive hawks and falcons. Discover the joy that the simple activity of bird-watching can bring to any hike! Bring along your friends and family to this 2-mile summer hike. Kids are welcome, ages 5+ recommended.
