A big thank you to Sarah Neumann Photography for conducting and photographing our RidgeGate Up Close interviews! This month: Pat and Patti Rounds moved to Bluffmont Estates in March of 2015. The Estates are sophisticated, low-maintenance triplex attached luxury homes with timeless brick and stucco exteriors. While the pair have been married for 51 years, they still seem to have the honeymoon giggles…
#1. What was the catalyst for your move to this neighborhood?
Pat: “We wanted to be close to where our children live. Our son lives in Parker with a granddaughter and our daughter lives with her husband and two of the grandchildren live over by Cherry Creek Dam. We wanted to be on the same the same side of town, we used to be on the West side of town.”
Patti: “We actually just got some good news. Our daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren are going to be moving to Montecito in RidgeGate in early April. They love how safe it is here.”
#2. Where do you work?
Pat: “We own Roberts Floor Coverings. It’s been in business since 1941. I was working there when I met Patti.”
#3. I understand you two have a passion for road trips by motorcycle?
Pat: We have a Harley, but we’ve backed off in the past couple of years, but we’ve been all over…Milwaukee, Sturgis, Kansas City.”
Patti: “Pat drove, but I went to school to learn how to drive just in case something happened.”
#4. How do you like living in RidgeGate?
Patti: “We love Douglas County. And the City services are great.”
Pat: “They take such good care of RidgeGate. We have a strong police presence; we always feel safe and protected. Plus, they get rid of the snow so fast! They are out at three or four o’clock in the morning making sure the roads are ready for the day.”
#5. There’s a beautiful piano near your front door. Which one of you plays?
Patti: “I did seriously through high school and now and then for fun. I still love to. Our puppy Tank **loves** classical music. Yesterday morning he was mesmerized; classical is what we play every morning.”
#6. And, Pat, did I hear you play the drums? How did you get into that?
Pat: “I wish I could tell you…(laughter)…my older brother played as a kid and he would never let me get at his trap set, so I had to get my own. I play the bongos and the congas.”
Patti: “He loves Latin rhythms.”
#7. And this loveable little guy is “Tank?” Do you have any favorite neighborhood walking routes?
Patti: “Tank has a girlfriend, Willow, and he always wants to go straight to her house. He’s four months old and he loves to wrestle.”
#8. What book or magazine do you have on your nightstand right now?
Patti: “I have a Bible.”
Pat: “Patti reads a lot. I’m a vacation reader.”
#9. Describe the perfect weekend.
Pat: “It doesn’t matter what we’re doing as long as we’re together.”
Patti: “We love road trips…they used to be on a motorcycle and now we take them in our car.”
Pat: “We love to golf. There are a lot of places right around here.”
#10. Where’s your favorite place to vacation?
Pat: “For years we loved beaches and all that, but now we want to be out of the sun. Now we love cities: New York, Rome, Dublin. We love things to do. If it’s not a golfing trip, it’s a shopping trip. We’re not great shoppers, but we’re great buyers!”
#11. In the movie Pat and Patti Rounds, who would be cast to play your roles?
Pat: “First of all, they’d still have to be alive.”
Patti: “George Clooney would have to play Pat. And when I was growing up, I was a tap dancer and I just adored Debbie Reynolds. Over the years I got to see her several times. Once, even, at Elitches!”
Pat: “Our daughter, Veronica, inherited that talent, she’s a dancer, too.”
