Among RidgeGate’s cultural facilities is the 38-acre historic Schweiger Ranch, located just east of the RidgeGate Parkway and I-25 interchange. The historic restoration of the ranch and its buildings, led by the nonprofit Schweiger Ranch Foundation, gives us an important glimpse into the settlers’ lives in the late 1800s. Today, Schweiger Ranch is open to the public for self-guided visits and free guided tours, storytelling campfires and nature hikes are also offered. All events are free to the public.

Natural Heritage Walking Tours with SSPRD – Full Moon with Bats

Schweiger Ranch has teamed up with South Suburban Parks & Recreation District to provide free, guided walking tours led by professional naturalists from SSPRD. These tours offer insight and education into the natural environment on and around Schweiger Ranch, while offering a chance to get some fresh air and exercise.

Join us as we walk to a peaceful spot on the trail to experience the rising full moon.  We’ll watch and listen for bats as they leave the barn at nightfall.  We will return to the parking lot by the light of the full moon, using our human night vision.
This event is held outside. The event can and will be modified or cancelled due to inclement weather or poor walking conditions. .
